A good idea on minimum wage law
From a comment to this entry in Greg Mankiw's blog - a really good idea for future drafts of minimum wage laws:
adr said...By the way, here is a recent debate for which Mankiw's entry is relevant.[FIN]
People would think less beningly (sic) of the minimum wage were it drafted as it really operates: "It shall be illegal to work for a lower hourly wage than $5.35."

Wow, that caught my eyes. Never thought about it that way. Let's suppose we write the law that way, do you think people will go to the streets demanding the rights to whatever wages they are willing to receive, even if the wages are lower than the minimum wage?
