Jeff Sachs is coming to town

For those residing in Jakarta, Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, the enthusiastic supporter of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and aid to Africa is coming to town. He plans to speak at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on August 4th, 4:00-6:00 PM.

Jeff Sachs is a top world economist, mostly well-known for his work on international trade and his recent venture into development economics. He is teaching at Columbia University, and directs The Earth Institute there. He is also the Special Advisor to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Recently, he wrote The End of Poverty arguing for, among others, increased aid to Africa. My reviews of this book can be accessed here (in English) or here (in Bahasa Indonesia)
